I am a absolute novice here so excuse my display of ignorance but here goes.

I am trying to drive several multi-digit displays from an existing clock. The clock, of course, doesn't have enough power to drive more than one more display. I've been successful in using an 8 channel source driver (TD62783APG) to trigger a higher current and get 5 displays to work. However, there are two wires that appear to (multi-plex) the display. For example powering pins 1 and 10 light segment J while 2 and 10 light segment F. I've tried NPN transistors to control the connections to pin 1 and 2 but they light all the segments.

Any guidance, links or advice to point me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. I'm completely out of my element here.

The display is very likely multiplexed. You'll need separate drivers for row and column (aka segments and digits).
