    Heinzy. No reason why you shouldn't use a 5V1 zener diode. The 2V4 was just put in for demonstration purposes. The feedback resistor ratio will need to be adjusted to reflect the change. In the example on this site, the gain is set by R1 and R2 and is about 4 ie R1 / R2 +1. The reference voltage is effectively the value of the zener + Vbe of Q1 which is about 3.1V and is dependant on the tolerance of both parts.
