Hello,

Whilst surfing I found a sealed rechageable divers torch that contains
a de-oxidizing pellet. I've never heard of such a thing and my guess
is that it helps keep the internal contacts clean from any battery
fumes that may occur from over charging. Can anyone clarify its
function and possibly what material it may be?

Cheers,

Andrew.

Any fumes emitted by a battery during charging are likely to be explosive.
removing the oxygen reduces that risk significantly.
Can anyone clarify its function and possibly what material it may be?

probably the same stuff they stick in packs of flatbread etc to keep it fresh.
could be ascorbic acid, but there's probably something even cheaper.

Bye.
