I'm wiring a back-up camera on my f150 and want to have it switch on when I put it in reverse and also anytime when I flip a switch.

I will be using diodes to accomplish this: Here is a drawing I made to illustrate.

The question is what size diodes will I need?

To answer this ,we need to now the current consumption of the camera you are using.

If it is less than 1A you can use 1n400x diodes.
If you need to buy, get the 1N4007 ,they are100PCs for less than 1$ .

I can't find any listed spec. for amperage consumption on the camera. It doesn't have any added LED's so I'm guessing it's pretty slight.

Do you have the user manual?
It should be there in the specifications section.
If not, Let us know the make and model...

Reversing light may well be earth return .
If that is the case, your circuit will not work as drawn.

I did finally find it pulls 60ma so I went with 1a diodes.

As to Rev light to ground I'm planning to take the rev switched power from the lead that goes to the trailer plug so I think that won't be the case.

Thanks for all the help y'all.
