Digital Research Tech. Monitor

In 1998 I bought a 19" DRT (Digital Research Technologies) computer
monitor at CompUSA and a year later it died. The DRT company also died,
leaving me with an "orphan" and no way to get it fixed.

One day it worked great with no symptoms of any type of problem. Then,
the next morning it did not. I suspect something in the initial sensing
circuit that turns on the PS, etc., has failed. Is this monitor a
possibility for repair? Would a local TV service center have access to
the schematics for this item?

I could try to reflow solder joints then give parts of its circuitry the
"whack" test. The monitor has sat in a box for 4 years so I doubt any
dangerous potential remains in a large cap.

Or, does it belong on the curb?

Further info:

Monitor purchased 05/20/98
5. Model -- DRMON19
Part No, -- ZDJ800H0106
Serial No. -- MH85HA107499

PROBLEM: DRMON19 monitor that has no picture. One evening it worked,
the next morning it didn't. Nothing was changed overnite in its setup or
location.

Upon turnon nothing comes on screen. The Power Indicator LED still
operates. It comes on with a green color and it stays on with no orange
blinking color AND no on-screen error message box appears. Then, after
2-3 minutes, this LED turns off. So, something is 'alive' in the monitor

to sense there is a problem and to turn it off.

This monitor was tried on two different computers which confirms the
problem is
with this monitor, not the graphics card, etc.

Thanks for your help............
