Hi, the project is:

Design, build and test one amplifier channel of an ECG machine.
The required specifications for this ECG amplifier channel are:
(a) Amplifier gain: 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 5000
(b) CMRR 80dB at 50Hz
(c) Noise < 10Vrms (equivalent referred to input) with input shorted
(d) Bandwidth (-3dB): 0.05-500 Hz
(e) Notch filtering at 50 Hz (can be switched in or out)
(f) Other additional features such as protection circuit, electrical isolation,
right-leg-drive circuit, etc if time permits

my question is:
is one amplifier enough to give multiple gains.
or I need to build multistage amplifier.

thanks

The question is, can you build an amplifier with a stable gain of 5000, or would it be more prudent to build 2 stages? You should be able to effect a change in gain by changing a single resistor.

Yeah, sure. Go out and but an ECG machine.

Although, if you review the lectures you possibly missed. You might find they cover something that is useful.

Forgive my cynicism, but if your school gives you a project then you can be pretty sure they've covered the materiel you need to know in lectures.

I'll give you a hint. Look at op-amps.
