Surely there should be someone from the DELL technical support reading
this newsgroup from time to time.

Maybe someone knows someone who works there?

There does not seem to be too much information regarding their hardware
anywhere online.

Unlikely. You'd have a better chance checking Dell's web site for a
user forum. Also, as I recall, there is a Usenet newsgroup for Dell
systems (alt.sys.pc-clone.dell).

Happy hunting.

DELL, and all the others will not give out any service information, or sell
any parts for non contracted service people to do any types of repairs of
their equipment. When there is a failure of any kind, the user must send the
device to the manufacture's service rep to have their equipment serviced.

Who are "all the others?" While this is an all too common scenario in
consumer electronics these days, there are still vendors that do sell parts
and provide service information.

Dell has service manuals for some of their products (like
laptops) available for free download.

DELL does sell some spare parts, they're just over-priced compared to
3rd party vendors like Parts-People, who specialize in DELL spare
parts.

As for service info, the DELL web site at least has disassembly
manuals for their laptops.

How about a hint on where to find these free downloads from Dell?
Since you seem to be the only one who knows about them so far.
TIA
