Does converting a DC power sorce to an AC power supply change voltage
levels? If so, how?
I'm building a prototype high temp desert tent. I want to use a solar
panel that happens to produce DC current to a cooling system that uses
AC power.
Specs:
Solar panel -32 Watt, 1.94 Imp, 16.5 Vmp
Air cooler -120 Volts/ 60 Hz Unit operates at 21 Watts

I'm having issues understanding voltage.

The device is called an inverter, and are readily available in
catalogs (try Mouser, DigiKey, Jameco, Newark, Allied), or Radio Shack,
(and at times) Costco or Sams Club.
Circuitry drives transistors that switch the DC into a transformer;
almost any input voltage and output voltage(s) are possible that way;
depends on the transformer.

yes that all is possible. u can reach any voltage level once u have
converted DC into AC using transformer. and conversion from DC to AC
is possible thru inverter containing 60 hz oscillator followed by push
pull amp.
