dc motor voltage

hello im colin im new to the forum and only have a basic electronic knowledge. i have a running machine that blew its motor and the only replacement second had i could afford is slightly different. there both dc there both up to 4800 rpm the old one was 240v dc and 1.5 hp the new one is 180v dc and 2hp. there is no loop sensor to controll the motor speed its just a straight feed from the controler. is there any way i can step the voltage down the machine still works but the readout for speed and distance is now way out any help greatly apreceated im in the uk so any links etc would be usefull

Not enough information. What is the make and model of the controller? Maybe you should get another controller.

Welcome corfi. I hope you didn't purchase it. 240DC to 180VDC is hardly "slightly different" as you say. What are you driving with this motor?
