I am trying to remove a DC offset from a signal with a capacitor. Sort of like the AC button does it in an oscilloscope. When I add the capacitor the offset doesn't go away. Am I doing something wrong? I have the capacitor in series with the signal generator. Should it not remove any DC? I am new to electronics and I am scratching my head.

Thanks for your wisdom.

Make sure your capacitor in on the hot side of the generator output. Then, try putting a resistor across the generator output after the capacitor. Something like 10K.

Eureka. It works. Thank you. Also I was using a huge capacitor which may have not been a good idea. I switched to a smaller one. Thank you for the help.
