hey i notice that D size nonrechargeable batteries never explode while charging
and can be charged quite a number of times. give it a try
  2. You were born with a horse-shoe up your "Axx", because I have seen
someone be injured very badly from doing that. These batteries are not
chemicaly reversable, and when recharging they do not properly
recover. They are not properly vented, and this become very dangerous
when heated from charging, or from some other heat source. I am not a
chemist to be able to explain the exact details, but someone in this
group may be able to contribute some information about this.

What is all this fascination of regarding non-rechargeable batteries??? Seems
like this question comes up every couple of days.

Are people so cheap that the can't just buy new batteries, or actually look
around and find some rechargeable batteries pretty cheaply from bulk vendors?

How about fiddling with Glycerin and Nitric Acid?
You can get a bang out of the results...
