    Hi there,

Please excuse my ignorance. A small transmitter schematic that I am following requires the following Crystal:

    Crystal, type FM1. 3rd overtone for 145-160MHz, 5th overtone for 220 MHz

I have no clue what this means. For instance if I want to broadcast at 1MHz does this mean I need a 33.33kHz or 20kHz crystal?

    Thanks!

Crystals up to around 30-50MHz oparate at their natural, fundimental
    frequency.
For higher frequencies, an overtone mode is used, a third overtone
    150MHz is a 50MHz crystal, cut to favour it's third overtone. A 5th
overtone 220 unit woyld be a 44MHz crystal cut to favour the 5th
    overtone.
