Cordless Phone Plug/Jack Quest: Help for A Disabled, Please ?

Hello:

Not sure if anyone can help me out, but past responses have been just great,
so
let me try again.

Trying to help out a disabled person, who has trouble speaking.

They presently use a very small Radio Shack clip on microphone (electret-has
battery in leads) that
feeds a small radio shack speaker/amp. Works well, but not for phone calls,
as the link thru the air of the speaker
to the the handset, or base,really distorts things.

Would like to feed the mic directly into the handset jack of the cordless
phone;
a V-Tech model 8L55 (2.4 GHz Gigaphone Multihandset Speakerphone "cordless
phone system")

Might anyone know the pin/jack electrical arrangements for the jack in the
handset (apparently a 2.5 mm pin dia plug) ?

e.g., I assume it's a stereo type 2-circuit jack, as you can buy one of
those hands-free mic & ear speakers for it (although pretty
light, it's still too heavy for their use) so they would need two circuits
on the plug/jack I would imagine.

If I can find the electrical arrangements "pinouts" for the jack/plug, I
feel I can rig something up.

Is this the best group to post this in ?

Much thanks,
Bob
