Convergence?? on Samsung SP-403JHA rptv

Hi all, Wondering if anyone can shed any light on my problem.
My Samsung rear-projector TV has gone slightly out of sync, it's still
watchable, but any text on screen is unreadable, it's not blurry as
such, but looks as if part of it has shifted to the side.
Basically it's ghosting.
I've tried to dig up info on this, apparently it's down to
convergence, and i've tried to find any service codes to put it right,
but to no avail.
the 'mute-1-8-2 or 3-p-on' doesn't do anything.
Anyone have any ideas on what to do?
If more info is needed, please feel free to ask, but bear in mind, i'm
not completely tech savvy, but i'm not stupid either, if you
understand what i mean.

Cheers in advance.

If this happened suddenly the last thing you should do is try to adjust
it back to normal - whether it uses a service menu or manual controls.
It sounds like a classic convergence problem. You or someone who knows
how to service electronics must diagnose which components are bad. It's
likely to be a few convergence amplifiers, and probably so low-ohm
resistors. After the defective parts are replaced the set will likely
need minor adjustments to the convergence.

If you try major adjustments before properly servicing the TV, when the
defective parts are replaced it will need major adjustments to put it
right. This could cost you an hour or two more worth of labor added
onto the repair costs.

On the other hand if it happened VERY gradually and it is a CRT (Picture
tube) based set then this is common as the tubes age and adjustments
will likely make it watchable until the tubes totally wear out.

it has happened gradually, over the past year or so now.
it's not a crt based one unfortunately,, it's lcd
I had it adjusted about 18 months ago, as it went badly out when i
moved, and that cost enough just to get an engineer out, and he used
the standard remote to make adjustments, which cleared it up.
I shuffled it around, and it went out again, the entire picture
shifted about an inch and a half to the left, leaving part of the
picture missing and a black line down one side.

I sorted that myself, but cannot get the rest to align.
Hence why looking for menu codes to re-align.

Convegence on an LCD set?? Been servicing many configurations of LCD sets
and yet to see any with the generic convergence adjustments such as those
found in crt based sets.
However, have seen mis-aligned LCD panels causing a very similar looking
display on a lot or LCD Procjectors. These normally are factory aligned but,
with diligence and proper tools may be field serviced. Suggest finding a
technician that is trained on your product and pay for the services.
