Hi! I want to attach a CCTV camera designed to be attached to an AC power supply to a DC adapter so I can run it off a wall socket instead of directly into the wiring. However the camera does not provide DC specifications and I'm not sure how to calculate what I need.

The camera says: AC 24V 60hz 4W

How do I figure out what the DC rating would be, polarity, etc.?

I've attached an image of the back of the camera.

All the video cameras (mainly used for security installations) that have connections like you have shown will work off 24V AC or 12VDC.
It doesnt matter which way around the 12VDC is connected, because the input goes directly to a bridge rectifier. The rectifier produces a DC voltage from the 24V AC and it will also supply the correct DC polarity for the cct from a 12VDC supply.

A 12VDC 0.5 Amp plugpack should be ideal

a bridge rectifier on the DC supply to a project is very good insurance against accidentally reversing a DC supply voltage :)
