How do conventional mono/polycrystalline ~100mm diameter cells work when
concentrated sunlight is fed at them? (say 4-6 times, with adequate cooling
    from the back)

Is there any way to improve the performance?

I am planning to use bare cells, and make my own panels.

Annoyingly, the vendor I was planning to order them from seems to have
outrageous shipping rates ($80 for a $40 1lb order to the UK).

Do you happen to know a vendor other than http://www.siliconsolar.com/ ?

Monocrystalline or Poly, even broken bits to play with.
