I'm very new to PIC programing and am trying to figure out which direction I need to go for a compiler. I'm getting a developmental board through Mikro Elektronika and am thinking of getting their compiler (MikroC). I know Mlab is free but I believe it only utilizes assembly language. Since I'm new, I'm looking for something that would be benificial for me as a newbee. Any ideas?

Microchip also provides free versions of their C8, C16, and C32 compilers for their 8, 16, and 32 bit processors. I use these and I am happy with them.
