CO2 detector and smoke alarms

Can I add a CO2 detector onto a fire zone that already contains 2 smoke
alarms?
I assuming that since they are both 24/7 sensors I can do this.

and you mean CO not CO2 unless you're trying to detect the presence of a lot of soda pop or some other specialized application? :)

Not a good idea. It's a separate detector. Use a different zone and don't
program it as a "fire loop". Make it 24 hour audible at the keypad. The
local sounder should alert you to the danger and the CS will be alerted and
respond accordingly. You don't necessarily want the "big guys in boots and
yellow jackets" coming to your door when you're away and the detector's been
activated. They'll bust the door in first and ask questions later.

CO, not CO2. You can but you shouldn't. The protocol for fire alarm is
significantly different from CO. With a fire alarm on a residence the usual
procedure (not necessarily the best idea, but this is what people often do)
is to check it out and, if you find no fire, reset and not worry about it.
When CO is detected you really need to get the family out of the house
immediately and stay out until the fire department comes and tests for the
presence of carbon monoxide gas.

Remember that while you can usually smell and see the byproducts of fire,
carbon monoxide is undetectable to humans. The alarm needs to make a
different sound and send a distinctive signal to the monitoring facility so
that you and the authorities know right away what the problem is.
