This radio periodically shuts off and remains so for less than a minute. Sometimes - not always - the memory zero's out and I have to reset time and stations.

Sony initially suggested a reset ... which didn't solve the problem. When asked if it could be the battery, I was told there's no consumer replaceable battery and they recommend I send it to their repair shop for attention.

If this COULD be a simple battery replacement, though I'm no wire wizard, I'm adept enough to follow instructions and replace a battery provided no special tools are required.

Q1) Anyone care to comment about the possible root cause of these shutdowns (they are internal to the unit. External electric source isn't in question.)

Q2) Where do I get a diagram showing where the battery is?

Q3) Anyone have a general description of the type battery that's involved and where I can get it? (It won't be Sony apparently.)

I've read where some Sony radio's get really hot, your problem may be thermal related.
