My subwoofer amp blew sometime ago. Happened on a freak hot day
sometime ago. I think it reached 38C.
I designed it for 25C ambient. ...oopss

The bridged amp modules probably blew.. It was a homebrew project.
    For something new...
I'd like to try out a Class D IC and power it with a smps.

Any thoughts or recommendations on Class D amp modules for sub
    woofers?

  2. A modest subwoofer amp has the output power of several hundred Wt. There are
no ICs rated for that kind of power. There are many ICs for class D
modulators (check Zetex website, for example). You will also need the
external drivers to control the output high voltage high current FET stage.

With schematic for 25W mono amp..

    Thanks

  5. Make it simple, omit the output filter at all. The inductance of a
speaker is enough. A radio will be jammed anyway. Who cares about EMC ;-)

    I make my own inductors..
I'll have to chose the correct core type and size for the Class D
    output filters.

TI does class D controllers rated at up to 300W, amongst others. I've
used a couple of their lower power parts and they worked fine for me. I
have no doubt other vendors parts perform as well.

One does need to be careful of the output filter parts, of course ;)

  8. Set your PC's clock right, ya goddamned retard. You have been told
this several times in the past.

I tried out my sub amp at full power one time. It rattled the wall
pictures, cutlery in the kitchen drawers rattled, stuff fell off the
    shelves and the neighbors complained.
Pretty good for just bridged 68W National modules.
