It depends. If your gateway changes, you will have to reprogram any IP
address. If a customer switches ISP's, and was using DHCP, the unit would
not need to be re-programmed. If the customer was using an "static" IP, and
they all changed, then yes. If a customer changes CS, obviously a new
address would be required. ALL of which can be done remotely, including any
Firmware changes, port assignments, IP, etc. The control panels can be
"trapped" and all programming parameters can be changed at any time, across
the Internet.

Thats one of the reasons I liked the Ademco system, don't need to reprogram
it at all

That's only because it won't do a Static IP address, which wouldn't matter,
because it won't send data in both directions. The only signal sent to it,
is for supervision, it's a slave communicator. From a CS point, you don't
have to change it because AlarmNet could just re-route it. It costs me
nothing, as a dealer, to route signals with DMP. What are the costs with
Ademco/AlarmNet? Certainly not free? What happens when you want to change
your methods as a dealer? Your pretty much stuck as a middle man with
AlarmNet. I'd rather have the money in my pocket. I don't charge anything
extra for monitoring over IP. You like it now, we'll see in a thousand
accounts or so. At a thousand accounts, it's still free to me. What will
your costs be?

Certainly yes free and it is bidirectional although several features aren't
implemented yet

Are we talking monitoring? Or a nice GUI for the end user? Last I knew,
Ademco's IP monitoring solution used AlarmNet. Are you saying this is know
free?
