    Hi All

I have a CD changer from my Jeep that I've been working on repairing.
I've come to quite a dead end, and any help would be extremely appreciated!

    Here's the background story:
Over a period of a few months the cd player began to work only
sporadically--sometimes it would play discs, other times it would just
read out ERR on the screen. Eventually, it would just ERR all the time.

I replaced the optical laser pickup assembly -- this is the unit with
the lens, some electronics, and the screw-gear to move it up and back
    across the CD.

I also cleaned the two optical sensors that check for the cd-cartridge
and for a loaded cd onto the reader mechanism.

NOW, the player will load discs properly, start to spin them up and then
stop, and the readout will again be ERR. Is it possible that its a bad
spindle motor? Is there anything else I should check? I'm clean out of
    ideas.

    Thanks again for any help!

Did you remove safety "feature" from laser pickup? i.e. there is usually
jumper in circuit to protect laser during shipping...

  3. Usually a solder "blob" covering 2 adjacent foil pads. Needs to be
    desoldered.
