Not ure if this is the correct group, if not can someone show me the way!

CCTV monitors seem to usually be 1000 lines,
would there be any problem using a LCD TV with composite video in?
The one I am looking at is 17" - 1280x1024

    Ta!

It's only going to be as good a resolution as the camera you put in to it.
    Raster to Vector.

An LCD will never be as good quality as a CCTV Tube Monitor.

The only type of LCD that will give you reasonable quality, will be a
CCTV designed LCD which normally start around $700 for a 15". Look for
one from a CCTV Manufacturer, such as Kalatel, AD, Bosch, Ultrack, etc.

This is what I was worred about, however, if the LCD has 1024 lines one way,
and 1280 the other, surely this is better then a 1000 line CRT?

They will both look the same with a camera of 480 Lines of resolution hooked
up to them. Only your mind will decide the LCD is better because you paid
    more money for it.
Again, Raster to Vector. It's a mathematical equation. It's like buying an
HD ready TV, and placing it on a UHF antenna.

No, it wont be better. The CCTV monitor of even 500TVL will still
provide a much crisper quality video. LCDs are not there yet.

Most cheap LCD monitors will etch fairly quickly.
