From my understanding, polarity doesn't matter with ccfls. It has no filament nor anode /cathode, it works on AC.

All the fluorescent light tubes and compact bulbs on Canada have a filament at each end.
That's true but that's not a ccfl.
A ccfl is a cold-cathode fluorescent lamp like whats used for backlighting a laptop computer display.

And CCFL's are driven by AC, so no need to distinguish one end from the other.
