Car Audio Capacitor Questions.

It says it is 24 volts. - If I strip the end of a house hold plug of 24 volts it only charges to 18 volts why? Then I tried a 30v plug (still household)

Its a firad compactor for a car audio system. Thanks!

It may have some sort of protection circuit to limit the maximum voltage across it.

18V would be a reasonable limit in a car that has a nominal 12V supply.
