Years ago I had a box that I could select common capacitor values, by selecting a particular switch. I lost that box and cannot find such a thing now. Rather than make one myself (easy, of course) where I can I buy such a thing now. Is this now a feature of a piece of bench kit?

Thanks.

Hello,
I think they are called capacitance decode boxes or something similar.

We always called them 'capacitor substitution boxes'.
Google it and see who makes them now.
(Whoops, hevans1944 beat me to it)

Thanks Hop, yes the resistor, capacitor and inductor box seem to fit my reply.
But what does a minor like me know about years ago?:D

Yes, that's the thing. Thanks. Wow, how expensive they are now. I think I paid around £10 in the 80's for one from Maplin or Tandy. Now they are £100s.

Better to make your own now.
All you are paying for is switches and capacitors. The expensive box comes free!

Just a thought...Make sure you use capacitors with a high voltage rating...the higher the better.....
