More awesomeness for Canon PowerShot SX50 HS cameras:

I just learned the existence of CHDK... "Canon Hack Development Kit".

This is exactly what I would want/wanted ! ;) =D

So I got very very lucky by chosing a nice Canon Camera ! ;) =D

Thanks to these hacks it's possible to load custom software onto this camera
(without risking the firmware) ?!

So now it's actually possible for me to write my own video codec for this
camera in the (near?) future ?!?!?! LOL that would be soooooooo awesome ! ;)
=DDDDDDD

Or other software tricks ! ;) =D

I kinda hope Canon opens up there API/Instruction set/Hardware Specification
so that external developers can write software for their cameras ! That
would be whicked ! ;) =D

Aahhhhsigh... so much fun and so much work to do with this new stuff ! ;) =D

This is the best stuff ever ! LOL.

Bye,
Skybuck ;)

Pretty cool, Canon also has an official SDK (software development kit):

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/standard_display/sdk_homepage

It says supports all PowerShot cameras...

I am not yet sure if it supports the new SX 50 HS too ?! ;)

There could be some interesting information in that SDK...

So now there are two possibilities:

CHDK or SDK ;) =D

Always good to have more options/information/docs/source codes ! ;) =D

Bye,
Skybuck.

As far as I can tell Canon's SDK is for PC only or so... to connect to
camera via a cable or something... I could be wrong though.

What I want is to be able to program the camera itself.

Thus only CHDK seems a choice...

There are also others like "magic latern" which continue the work of CHDK or
so ;)

The magic one is about raw video or so ? ;)

Skybuck.
