I was just exploring my old video device and found some suspiciously yellow things below the head of it. Magnet doens't take them but they have magnets gluet to tips.
Can these be made out of gold or are gold plated silver?
They certainly are not pure gold. Gold would be too expensive and, depending on the alloy, too soft. It is probably a very thin gold coating (a few µm only) which is used to preserve good conductivity over a long time (gold doesn't rust).
