camera shutter control

Hello, i was thinking of making a project related to cameras, where i need to control the shutter release of the camera using some signals. On googling i found that it can be done using the shutter release cable that comes with certain digital cameras. But not all cameras come equipped with this facility. Is there any way i can control the shutter release of any camera so that it clicks photos when triggered??
