I have been thinking about making a Differential Scanning Calorimeter. This has a small chamber that is heated up at a specific ramp rate. It has two pans into which a sample of material is placed into one and the other is left empty. It works by measuring small temperature differences between the sample pan and the empty reference pan, this is associated with physical or chemical changes from the sample. So what I need is an accurate temperature measuring device. I was wondering if anyone has used thermopiles (or anything else) for measuring small changes in temperature.
