Got an 8 pin Dip half blown apart. There is a something.. C55CP
but thats all I know. It seems to be part of a muting circuit in a Monsoon
    MH-500 PC speaker set.
    Any clues??

    Monsoon burnt chip

This is a very old message and is probably dead but I wanted to respond.
I, too, have two Monsoon MH500 speaker sets that have this same chip blown/burnt. I hope to find out what it is and resurrect these speakers.
One of my chips is still mostly readable:

    TI 97FXV3M

The first line is split with a crack. It doesn't look like any material is missing. So I think my reading is correct.
I believe, in both cases, the power supply burned this chip some how.

    Any new info is appreciated.
