Broken DVD player

I have a fairly new DVD player that all the sudden stopped working
right.
No matter what disc I try to play, even new ones without any scrathes,
it will "freeze" for a few seconds, then play again, over and over,
until finally it says "check disc" and gives an error number
indicating that the disc is scratched or dirty. It seems to do that at
around 35:00 minutes into the disc. I've used canned air and a DVD
cleaner, but it still does it. I'm just wondering what else I can do
if anything. If I took the lid off, what would I look for as far as
cleaning it?

I'd look for junk in the carriage system making it stick at that point. Is
it under warranty?

I would be asking about having it exchanged or serviced under warranty, not
fixing it myself!

maybe the lens sled needs re greasing - could be dried lubricant on
the rails.
check the ribbon cble for hairline cracks where it flexes.
a good cleaning of the lens may help - others suggest window cleaner
but i use alcohol (96 or better) and havent had any problems-

How old is "fairly new"? I would try taking it back to the place I bought
it, if they won't exchange it then it might be worth cleaning the lense and
looking for any bulging electrolytic capacitors. DVD players are so cheap
though that I don't spend much time on them unless they're something
special.

It would be very helpful if we knew who made your player.

Different manufacturers have different designs for their players. - Reinhart

you should have used and air compressor with minimum 100 psi, then at least
you could throw it away.
DON'T TOUCH IT IF IT IS UNDER WARRANTY!!!
