I have a Polaroid HDTV FLM-1911 that I use as a second monitor on my computer. This an example of what happens.
TV plugged in and cabled to my laptop.
Works fine all day.
Power down both for the night.
The next morning, with or without the laptop attached, when I power on the TV, "POLAROID" pops up on the screen, but then the screen goes black. To the right of the power button at the bottom front of the screen is a faint blue glow.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Bad solder joint?

I'd open it up and go over the larger solder joints.

Forgot to say, I usually try to clean off any old rosin with isopropyl alcohol and an old tooth brush. Once the main bulk is cleared, the rest is usually a white film which can be removed dry with the same tooth brush.

Also take a look for any obvious problems, like swolen (or domed-topped) capacitors, "burnt" resistors, etc.
