Big price differences at the same source

How come there's often a wide range in prices for the same part
at the same online shop? I can understand it when the same basic
device is made by different manufacturers, in different packages,
temperature range, tolerance, etc. But there still are often huge
differences for a product by the same company with no
sub-variant. To give just one example, the Indian branch of
Farnell (now element14) currently has three listings of the
Vishay TSAL6100 IR LED at Rs.2.90, 17 and 22 each. That's about
USD 0.064, 0.38 and 0.49 respectively, a ratio of nearly 1 to 8.
What am I missing here?

The Rs2.90 part is p/n 1469618 and that part appears to be obsolete in
the UK. Maybe it is non RoHS. So I guess 2.90 is a stock clearance
price.

Within the same supplier, it's usually MOQ/packaging (units of 1 reel)
or perhaps there is some subtle difference in the parts.. (not RoHS or
something else like performance).

That part is around 0.55 for 1 from Digikey or 12 cents in 10K, but
Avnet's 10K price is less than 0.07.

To put it another way, for $1218 you can get 10K pieces from DK or
20K from Avnet (and $18 change). Both say they have stock.
