BIG grommets?

I need grommets, or other similar sharp-edge protections. I punched
some holes for 1.25" conduit in a rack (so that's 1.701" dia.) top
panel.

I did have a stub nipple in the holes and 2 conduit nuts; then
the plastic thread-on ends.... but that's just too small for the
connector I need to send through...

So where can I find some ~1.7" dia grommets, or another way to
guard the sharp edges, such as a plastic protector?

When I had to get a large connector on a 0.5" diameter cable through a
panel, I had the electricians punch a 3" hole that would pass the
connector - then I got a 4" square piece of aluminum, drilled a 5/8"
hole in the middle and cut it in half, through the hole. I mounted
the two pieces over the 3" hole, and put a suitable grommet around the
cable and trapped it in the 5/8" hole between the two half-plates.
Made a fairly neat installation.

There is also some nylon (or other plastic) U-channel material made
especially for making large do-it-yourself grommets.

Grommet strip is commonly available, either serrated or plain edged, the
serrated goes round tight corners better.

Part numbers:
548-546
548-552
548-568

Or, you can get some of the heavier style automotive edge moulding strip, we buy
something like this from RS Components for really large holes and for edging
panels.

Part Numbers:
423-6247
823-550
423-6231
423-6253
823-544

Would something like this work?

http://www.heyco.com/pages/products/section_3/3-07.html

You could also try a google search for "grommet strips" that can be cut
to length and used to line the sharp edges of just about any shape and
size cutout. An automotive supply store may have them.

That's what those are called; thanks.

Electronic Surplus Inc. in Cleveland says they have the by-the-inch grommet strips.
I'll stop by while in town and see.
