Which is better, DEOXIT, RIDOX, SUPER CONTACT CLEANER, WD40 or..
....are they just all the same, as far as results?

M.G. Chemicals' "Super Contact Cleaner" is $10 versus $17 for Caig's
Deoxit in our town. One electronics repair shop said he preferred a
non-Deoxit becuase he alleged that DeOxit caused certain unspecified
problems. If he is telling the truth, any idea what he is referring
to?

In the antique radio restoration community, Caig DeOxit is considered
the gold standard. Cleans well, and leaves no residue. WD-40 is
considered a no-no-never - it may or may not clean well, but it leaves a
sticky oil residue that invites future problems of many kinds.

FWIW, WD-40 is not intended to be a cleaner, but rather a water remover
to be used in the prevention (and help in the removal) of rust. The
name stands for "Water Displacement formula #40". In other words, it is
the 40th mixture tried by the chemist who was trying to figure out how
to remove water from metal parts.

Don't know about the others.
