Well, I don't know which poster you're responding to here, but keep in
mind when you cross post you're going to get mixed reviews. We have no
idea who you are, what you're doing, why you're doing it, etc.

When you put this up in a group of the people who may be asked to
transcribe it you may get a different response than in a group of
electronics experts.
Plus it pisses some of us (me anyway) off to get a post like this that
then gets us innudated with posts from people we never heard of.

And no I'm not going to bother to mark their newsgroups off my response.

She is a winner (Shygirl 1963) here is still another one of her posts......

Check out this letter SHYGIRL wrote in 2004....

What is the purpose of trying to discredit someone with a perfectly
appropriate request for information in a newsgroup?

First you do not know whether this is actually the same person,
second about at least every third person goes through a mental illness
(as defined by strict clinical criteria) at least once in a lifetime and
third even if someone has a mental illness he or she does not loose his
personality and deserves respect as any other human being.

Hoping not to start a flame war ;-)

Marc...Marc...Marc....please read it again. You have a person that records
sessions with clients. You have a person that claims they are a "Therapist".
This person has the SAME two address ([email protected] and
[email protected] ). If you check out the IP address, they are from
the SAME area.
You have a person thats worried about identity theft (see her other posts),
but PUBLISHES HER ENTIRE FAMILY TREE on the internet.
Can a "Therapist" be this stupid? While many Therapists DO see a psycologist
during training and write a theasus/dissertation they DO NOT see a
psycaitrist(sp). If you don't know..the latter can and does prescribe
medication to "control" problems. I seriously doubt her "Professionalism" is
up to par. Recording phone calls is really tacky, especially tacky on a
speakerphone and therapy sessions OVER the phone.....give me a break!
intervention yes, therapy no.

Where did you get that from?
I was under the impression of the original poster being the client.
Nowhere did I read her to be a therapist.

At least over here in Switzerland this is not necessarily the case - a
psychotherapist may well see a psychiatrist for his own therapy or
supervision.
If you don't know..the latter can and does prescribe
medication to "control" problems.

As a psychotherapist in a psychiatric practice and medical student I am
rather well aware of the details ;-)

It is possible to have a therapy session over the phone, and recording
any session is perfectly ok if both parties are aware and consent.

sorry, i am new at using google to post.....i think my reply to Mr.
Perry should have been directed at Mr. Schnurd.

shygirl

I've also switched to google due to ISP problems. Here are a few
guidelines for using it effectively:

The key to quoting with the current interface is to NOT use the
"Reply" link at the bottom of the article.

First, click "Show options" at the top of the article next to
the poster's name. Then click "Reply" at the bottom of the headers
that
show up on the next screen. The reply window will include attribution
to the message author, and full quoted text of the message.

Haven't figured out how to automatically include a sig yet, but
cut and paste from a plain text file isn't too difficult.

Also, snip (delete) text in a long post that isn't relevent to
your reply.

Hi there-
I would like to get a microcassette recorder to record therapy sessions
on my speakerphone....i have tried the GE 35377, twice, and both broke
down very quickly (don't buy that thing...money down the drain!). But
what is a reliable model (for under $50.00)? I sure don't know. I am
not keen on going digital cause money IS an issue, plus i need
something with removeable media (& i believe only the more expensive
digital recorders come with removable cards, not to mention the cards
themselves which are more money than tapes). Really appreciate any
suggestions. Thanks.

shygir

with standard audio cassettes now cheaper than ever, plus they can be
played on far more devices than microcassettes, I say go that route.
You may want to buy an adaptor cable which allows you to connect the
phone socket to the mic input of a standard casette recorder. or one of
those phone mikes with a suction cup which you stick on the handset.

I sometimes use a rather old Panasonic kx-t1485 answerphone with 2 way
recording butto for taping off the phone... And yes, it uses normal
cassettes. Easy to pick up cheap second hand. Had to replace the drive
belt on mine though.

OR: Use any client on your computer, and switch the google account to
using the POP (post office protocol) - which is what any mail client
will be able to do - instructions on gmail's website.

hi-
no, the tapes are for personal use only, so that i can play them back
as much as i need to...i don't plan to have them transcribed.

shygirl

Go to wally world, and ask a salesdroid in the "electronics" department.

Or, as has been said, find one on ebay, but be sure to get assurance that
it will meet your needs.

Good Luck!

Perhaps if you'd actually read the post, you'd see that she's recording
her _own_ sessions, with the consent of her therapist, so that she can
review them and derive further benefit.

Please, lighten up on the newbies.

Thanks!

Ah, the joys of dealing with stuff that's heavily cross-posted to
unrelated newsgroups... At least we get to meet new people in the
process... :)

yes, and i did let my therapist know what i wanted to do, and asked if

Sorry, if this is bothering people. I am still very new to using
newsgroups and totally new to posting to groups using google. But, i
did think it was okay to post my message to all the groups i did,
cause i felt each of the groups i chose, would have an interest in and
possible knowledge about micro-cassette recorders.
