Barbecue lights

I have recently purchased a set of two 12V lights for my barbecue
shed. They came with a 5W panel, a fuse, an Apple regulator and two
switched CFCs.

The battery is the one I use for my cordless lawn mower, so the idea
is that it serves two masters. There is a problem when I mow during
the day, discharging the battery 100% and then want to light the
barbecue in the evening.

The whole kit set me back $200 Australian but it works well and looks
OK.

Does anybody know of another kit, perhaps cheaper and more modular,
that will do the same job?

Here you are with an e-mail address from BCSE and you want this answered!
What is your issue or should that be major malfunction.

For those that are not aware with the BCSE is, it is the Australian Business
Council for Alternative Energy
Will have to send this beauty in to them so they can put it in their
magazine. What a wacker.

Good question. But what the world really wants to know is how many of
these things it takes to power a washing machine, and are they
compatible with Plasmatronics products? :)

First of all, you have stated that BCSE is the acronym for the "Business
Council for Alternative Energy".

As far as I am concerned BCSE stands for "Bored Curmudgeons Spreading
Entropy"

I ditched my association with this group several years ago. If you had
any connection at all with the grass roots level of the industry you
would know that the BCSE is so out of touch with reality that they are
facing a revolt in the ranks. Even the cowboys in the industry are not
happy.

The BCSE has set the industry back twenty years.

Wayne, though, could be elected president. He would fit right in.

Weasel to English translation: they've raised their standards, and
will no longer certify self-titled "power consultants" without
legitimate proof of competency.
http://www.bcse.org.au/default.asp?id=176 Their goals seem admirable,
and I'm shocked I tell you, shocked, that you disapprove of them. In
lieu of demonstrated competence, perhaps you could have the STA
committee review some of your posts here. It won't help you get
certified, but it might lead to some sort of "three strikes" rule,
which could be good for the industry. And, when they need help selling
the concept of the necessary evil of accreditation organizations, you
could be their poster boy.

Sad little man. Why don't you tell us the history of the BCSE. How they
came into being. Perhaps an outline of their Skills and Knowledge
competency standards.

Come on waynie, you have opened your mouth again, on a subject you know
nothing about, so show us the total extent of your ignorance.

Nobody cares about any of that George. What most consumers want is
regulation that weeds out proven nitwits, and ensures that certificate
holders keep learning. The BCSE seems to be working toward both of
those goals http://www.bcse.org.au/default.asp?id=79.
Perhaps an outline of their Skills and Knowledge
competency standards.

It all appears to be well covered on their web site
http://www.bcse.org.au/default.asp?id=174. Some specifics here
http://tinyurl.com/ls2mu, with a long list of contractors here
http://www.bcse.org.au/default.asp?id=11 who've met the standards.
I also note that they have a code of conduct, and a process to revoke
accreditation for violations http://www.bcse.org.au/default.asp?id=81.
It almost looks like they set out to exclude you in particular.
Perhaps somebody there has used samples of your post to justify
industry regulation.

Since you're so negative about the organization, perhaps you should
start a competing one, "Ghio Certified Installers" or some such. All
the disaffected "designers" <snorf> could join. Don't forget to post a
photo of your Christmas party, and be sure to caption it so that
readers don't confuse it with the over-the-hill bar band bash.

Very good wayne, you have yet again displayed you ignorance to the max.

You know nothing about the BCSE or their competency standards.

Best if you just keep your mouth shut.
