I'm currently want to remove a one minute shut down timer on a jewelers scale.
Would disconnecting the SCL lead from the circuit work?

DESCRIPTION
The Microchip Technology Inc. 24C01B and 24C02B are 1K bit and 2K bit Electrically Erasable PROMs. The devices are organized as a single block of 128 x 8 bit or 256 x 8 bit memory with a 2-wire serial interface. The 24C01B and 24C02B also have page-write capability for up to 8 bytes of data. The 24C01B and 24C02B are available in the standard 8-pin DIP and an 8-pin surface mount SOIC package.

I doubt it. The EEPROM doesn't do the timing, that's the job of a timer chip, probably a small microcontroller. This controller on the other hand will very likely not operate any more once it cannot access the EEPROM.

Thank you. I have noticed a set of components that may control the time (and listed on another site). I will update within 24 hours my results.
