Does anyone know whether, when charging the amp battery from the mains the switch should be set to AC or DC? How does one know when the the amp is charged and when it is exhausted as there is no indicator light?

The amp can be in either the On or Off position, but when charging make sure the AC/DC switch is in the AC position. It usually takes 6 to 8 hours for a full charge which the makers claim will give you up to 8 hours playing time. You can also play while its charging but this will take the charging process longer.

It is a powered speaker from Australia. Its output is 15W RMS into its 8" speaker. Its battery is 12V but its owners manual does not say its chemistry. It is probably a little lead-acid battery and the amplifier is probably a bridged car radio IC. The speaker is probably 4 ohms.

Why don't you read the owners manual that is online?? It tells you everything about how to set the switches and charge the battery. It says to never let the battery run low.
