Greetings everyone. I am in the process of upgrading my ancient fluorescent fish tank lights. They are originally for the ten gallons that have a single tube, a switch and a starter with the old style magnetic transformer. I just purchased fast start ballasts that support two bulbs I will need help when I actually get started I am putting 2 15 watt t8 18 in bulbs in each hood. I think I will need help to get them started. I will be eliminating the starter altogether. I also would like to use the original switch if possible so they can be turned on instead of just plugged in like a shop light and at the same time use a polarized plug. I will get back to ya as I progress. I am money challenged and need to economize so hence I am building my own. and I am female just so ya know.
And just an aside, in dismantling them I found that the brand new hoods I bought years ago have had the original transformer replaced but were still sold by the industry as new! how's that for deception! hah!
