Hi,

I'm currently looking into a apartment security solution. Does anyone have
any experience with these wireless systems?

Here are a couple links to some I found on the net. Quite different prices
between these two models. One is quite a bit more expensive than the other
but offers quite a few nice options such as optional x10 remote control of
lights and comes with a keyfob. It has the standard feature of calling
predefined #'s. The other seems pretty decent with the calling feature as an
option. Both have Zone protections. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks
and stay secure.

I would go with the Simon 3 or the Ademco LynxREN. The Simon 3 is smaller
and looks real nice. The Ademco Lynx is a little larger, but works well.

I found this site with good info:
http://www.alarm-information-source.com

For DIY / wireless alarm it looks like alarm.com with the Simon 3 is a
good option. It comes with X10 control, wireless back up and control
through the Web. I use vonage phone service and vonage customers get a
good price: www.alarm.com/vonage or www.alarm.com/order.

Only negative is it costs $300-500 for the basic system which is
probably more than some of the lower end diy out there. But if you live
in an apartment it's nice because its wireless/portable and there is no
contract (cancel when you move).

It's pretty well "slamming" all the big alarmco's though... Not much in
the way of helpful comparison there...

Just make sure you read *all* the fine print on any contract they have.
That's good advice for any dealings with an alarmco.
