I'm going to be there for almost three weeks at the beginning of June. It would be interesting to catch up with anyone in the area.

(I will be staying in or near Berkeley)

To keep this on topic, may I suggest that we could have some "General electronics chat" in person :)

You had to show up in the wrong part of the country!

And then you weren't satisfied with staying in San Fran, you had to crawl right up into the stinky armpit of the CA, right next to Oakland. Where's the smiley holding its nose when you need it?

Unfortunately my choice of location was made for me.

I could endeavour to get a hospital moved, but that's not likely to happen.

On the other hand, my colleague and I figure that we can pack some Aussie beer. But we'd bring the good stuff, not the stuff that we export :D

Oof, ouch. They don't export it to the States, though. :( Ok, MB? Heheh. I may have had some better beer whilst in Oz, but I probably don't remember the event.

I do clearly remember VB being a Godsend when in East Timor, though!

This is my third trip to San Francisco in the last 2 years. Whilst I can hardly say "I've seen it all", I have seen some of it.

It's a really nice place and It would be on the list of places I could live.

I am staying in a place up on the hill behind Berkeley with a view over the bay area. I walk past a whole heap of buildings with Greek letters on them on my way to the BART. That's probably a dead giveaway for anyone familiar with the area :)

yup its a good place ... some really nice liveable areas, if you dont mind regular earthquakes ;) which I dont mind its a major study interest, have a number of friends in the greater SF area that also do live seismic recording.

if you havent yet, in you trips over there, you must get to the fisherman's wharf area on the SF side of the bay, and get stuck into an awesome clam chowder in a sourdough bread bowl.

ciao

I think the clam chowder in Monterey was better. But they do try to claim it as their own.

I keep having "On the Beach" moments when I visit that part of town.

Wish I was back in SF.. Berkely was a little boring for my taste but that's just me. Doesn't really sound like you are there for a vacation though. I was never game to try the clam chowder after one of my mates was really ill after it last time :LOL.

on the wharf, see if you can get some Calamari ala'maria (I think that's how its spelled.. Calamari, baked in the shell, mushroom soup in it, sliced tomato in the middle, and whatever seasoning they use.. wow, good!
