Any value to an older defunct Sony KV-2780R Set?

Today is trash day and I came home with two sets. The first is a mistreated
Sony 27" KV-2780R Trinitron. Quite a nice set in it's day, but it took a
fall apparently. Case is cracked, severely scratched, many cracked solder
joints and a few blown capacitors. Quite a nasty layer of dust and gook all
over everything as well. I jumped a few traces, resoldered a few
connections, subbed a few parts and got it running well enough to switch to
"Video" mode and have it display a great picture. Luckily the tube survived
the fall. It looks as if the CRT is in great shape (Very crisp,
high-contrast picture, no scratches on the face), but the rest of the set is
just pure junk due to abuse and damage.

I have no use for the set and wondered if the CRT would be of any value to
anyone in the Fort Worth, Texas area?

If anyone is interested, it's yours.

Someone should be able to put it to use, new case parts are available from
Sony, or you could probably find them from a lightning damaged set.

I thought of trying to find a set with a bad chassis and swap everything
over, but I'm concerned there won't be much life let if the electronics of
this set.

Aside from the fall/drop it took, it had been exposed to heavy moisture for
some time. Enough that most all metal shields, wire connections, etc are
all rusted/corroded. It may last a few months or it could go on and run ten
more years without problems, but I wouldn't want to chance selling it or
giving it away as a "good" set.

And I hate to just dump it in the trash! (I hate to throw anything away
that may be useful in some way)
