I have a 315MHz transmitter and receiver pair that work about 8 feet apart.
Is it possible to get 150 feet?

Could a strand of copper wire be used as an antenna to accomplish this 150' range?

You probably won't get that range without violating the output power limits established by most countries...

You should consider a frequency that does better over long range, like bluetooth or wifi...

    Thanks
Do you know where I could find the output power limits?

The agency that regulates radio transmissions in your local... In the US that would be the FCC...
