I'm a middle aged sparky who in his youth used to mess with electronics.

This has become known to my employer :(

I now have to set up a halloween castle with sounds and light and a smoke machine.

I'm happy with most of it, except the activation of the smoke machine.

The machine is presently activated by a manual push button.

I wish to replace the push button with a relay that is triggered for 5 to 10 seconds every approx 15 minutes.

Could some kind person please help me out with a componant list and a circuit diagram.

P.S. I have 12v and 4.5v (1000mA) DC transformers lying around in abundance, so if I could utalise these?

Does the current pushbutton arrangement require that the button be held in for 5-10 seconds, or is it just pushed momentarily to start the display?

Sounds like a job for a TDR (Time Delay Relay).
You can find any set time interval, or variable selection time interval, that you want.

You have to hold it in for the time required, hence why I said between 5 and 10 seconds because at the moment there is no accurate timing going on.
