An interesting way to use LEDs,
I have this small Huawei GPRS / HSDPA modem,
it plugs in the USB of the laptop...
The LEDs are now so bright that they no longer need holes,
they just shine through the plastic case :)

It has a blue LED for a HSDPA connection.
Back to 10mA for LEDs ?

Do you mean reduce current to 10 mA?

Surely that depends on the LED. LEDs with technology from about 1980
are still in production. But there are other LEDs that get reasonably
bright (and maybe then some) at .5 mA - is in half a milliamp!

Or do you mean increase current to 10 mA now that there is an
application with large light loss?
