Basically for less than 5 bucks off ebay you can buy 50 off them the mcp4063 is cheap and that's why I like this 1watt flasher because of it's inbuilt current limiter circuit..

Not yet built it, but I'll make a pcb for sure and take some photos.

I'd be very interested to see the graph of current through the LED. I suspect it might peak well above the limit set by the sense resistor.

Nevertheless, it's an interesting idea.
