Are there any common failures on this Television?
It still powers up but the picture width fluctuates rapidly across the whole
screen about once pers second or slightly faster.
Picture height appears unaffected.
It may get worse if left on but I've only had it on for around a minute.
I know it's a cheap/poor quality unit but I was given it and would like to
fix it for my spare room.
Any help appreciated.

from yor notes check all solder joints in horiz section i would check the
whole board for dry joints then check for faulty caps in the horiz section
it may be the eht transfmr its self..regards alp

Check R423 (2.2K) and the width control itself - they've both been known to
give problems. Also check C926 (22uF 160v) and C424 (22uF 160v), both near
the LOPT.
