Can anyone suggest a lower cost replacement for the AD AMP01
instrumentation amp?

www.analog.com/static/imported-files/data_sheets/AMP01.pdf

When I started using these as bio-electronic amps, they were under
$30. Now they have almost doubled in price, and I expect the trend
will continue. Time for a change.

Prefer DIP, and need full available gain of 10,000 in one IC.

There is an AMP02.
What about the AD62x series? I've used the AD622, and the AD620 might be
a fit.
Then there's the AD8xxx upgrades.

Hmm, where are you buying them? All I see are ~$20 each for onesies.
Unless you need the ceramic package?

All I could find were ceramics. Where did you see these please?

Digikey has them for about $22:
http://search.digikey.com/scripts/D...h_go&lang=en&site=us&keywords=AMP01&x=23&y=23

Newark has the DIP for $23 and SOIC for $18:
http://www.newark.com/jsp/search/br...=gensearch&Ntt=AMP01&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial

Allied for $30:
http://www.alliedelec.com/search/se...D:AMP01,Dxm:All,Dxp:3&SearchType=0&Term=AMP01

I like the INA128, about $8:
http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?vendor=0&keywords=INA128

The AD620 can't be set for gain over 1000. Same for INA129 which is drop-in
compatible (for the AD620).

The AMP01 seems to be unique. Somebody is selling five pieces on eBay for
about $55 each:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMP01FX-Int...544?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item588d4c9d70

The LT1920 seems like a good part for about $6:
http://search.digikey.com/us/en/products/LT1920CN8#PBF/LT1920CN8#PBF-ND/891763

Good luck,

Paul
